A breakout hit that reworks `Survivor' into addictive drama about stranded plane-crash survivors on a Pacific isle. These disparate, resilient souls are bedeviled by flashbacks to their pasts; ever-changing group dynamics; and a monstrous predator. Co-created by J.J. Abrams (`Alias') and filmed in Hawaii.

  • The Emmys: A Dramatic Shift Toward Cable | Roush Dispatch | 7/17/2008 New
If you heard someone momentarily flatlining in the audience at the reading of the Emmy nominations Thursday morning, that was me. They were announcing the best drama series candidates and I was mostly on board as I checked my list in the back of the TV Academy theater. Damages. Yay! House. OK. Boston Legal. I don’t approve, but I’m no longer surprised. Lost. OMG! Dexter. OM-Freaking-G! Wait. That’s five. Surely they didn’t leave out . . . And they didn’t. AMC’s... read more

Senior editors Matt Mitovich and Mickey O'Connor answer your questions — "live"-ish from the TCA press tour in Los Angeles. The other Callica (Grey's Anatomy's Callie and Erica) fans and I are dying for some info! There's the pregnancy rumor which has been addressed quite a bit, but there must be something else! Are they officially a couple? Or is Erica too emotionally stunted? — AllyMatt Mitovich: Oh, the poor Callica fans and their cute little couple name. You will see that things... read more
  • Lost Withdrawal? Join the Book Club! | Today's News: Our Take | 7/2/2008
Do you miss Lost? I know I sure do. ABC recognizes that it's going to be a long six months for Lost fans until it returns in January 2009, so they've launched the Lost Book Club on ABC.com this summer to feed your conspiracy-fueled mind.Don't groan! I know — I have painful memories of summer reading as well (My Antonia lulled me to sleep pretty much every night of August 1986), but this book club will be fun! It features a selection of the literary works referenced on Lost, and will... read more
  • Emmy Gets Our Hopes Up Again | Roush Dispatch | 6/27/2008
At least now we know which shows don't have the proverbial snowball's chance in Hollywood of getting best-series nomination. Underdogs like Battlestar Galactica, Breaking Bad and The Shield (to name the top drama snubs from my own cheat sheet) and How I Met Your Mother, The New Adventures of Old Christine, The Big Bang Theory (three superior CBS comedies passed over for Two and a Half Men, again) as well as Desperate Housewives (whose creative comeback failed to sway the Emmy nominators) and... read more

With gas and airline ticket prices on the rise, and no let-up in sight, we keep hearing it again and again on the news: people are trading in their summer vacation travel plans this year for a "stay-cation": staying at home during their time off.Still, many of us wish we could escape to the beach this summer, and you're probably no different. What to do? Well, for less than the cost of an SUV's full tank of gas, you can get a season set DVD from one of your favorite beach-side TV shows, and... read more
  • Ask Matt | 6/20/2008
Q: I have to comment on the season finale of Lost. I thought it delivered on every level. We got just enough answers and resolved plot lines, but we were still left with amazing questions and surprises. I was glued to the TV for the whole thing. I cried over Jin's death, even though it was expected, and the reunion of Desmond and Penny was lovely. I also thought there was a perfect balance of flash-forward and "on-island" scenes. All the characters I love had some powerful moments. Overall it... read more
  • Ask Matt | 6/20/2008
Q: Am I the only one upset over the scarce African-American characters on Lost? I'm not saying they're racist. I just find it very odd that out of so few characters ? Michael, Rose and Mr. Eko ? two of them get killed and the others we barely see except for little blurbs. They bring Michael back for what? A handful of episodes just to kill him off?! I know that Harold Perrineau is upset over returning for that, but am I the only other person upset? Honestly, I'm all for moving a story forward,... read more
  • Ask Matt | 6/20/2008
Q: A couple of seasons ago, in response to a question about shows that overstay their welcome, you indicated that you thought that the final scene of Lost should be the survivors getting off the island, and that you had no desire to see their post-island lives. Does that mean that you are now finished watching Lost since we have seen the Oceanic 6 get rescued? Obviously, I kid, and to be honest, I completely agreed with you at the time. Now I can't wait for next season where I can only assume... read more
  • What on Earth: Battlestar, Lost finales | Roush Dispatch | 6/14/2008
I’ve finally come back down to Earth—or more precisely, to the world of TV (after a few weeks abroad and way out of the loop)—and am thrilled to find the planet, for all of its problems, in better shape than the explorers of Battlestar Galactica did upon the conclusion of their long and arduous journey. A powerfully downbeat, and thus hardly out-of-character, wrap for the first half of the final season of one of TV’s all-time-greatest science-fiction dramas.Because of my... read more
  • What Has Lost Alum Cynthia Watros So Spooked? | TV Guide Interviews & Features | 6/12/2008
There was a quiet spell following her dramatic exit from Lost, but Cynthia Watros' workload has gone from 0 to 60 in recent months. Tonight at 10 pm/ET, she stars opposite Eric Roberts in the second installment of NBC's Fear Itself anthology series, and later this summer, she'll surface on TBS' The Bill Engvall Show. TVGuide.com invited Watros to preview her new gigs as well as ponder future spooky appearances by Lost's Libby. TVGuide.com: You've been keeping busy lately!Cynthia Watros: A ... read more
  • Reader's Cheer of the Week: Lost's Secret Weapon | Cheers & Jeers | 6/6/2008
Posted by huntress...Cheers to Kevin Durand for his chilling portrayal of Sgt. Martin Keamy on Lost. Love him or hate him, nobody is neutral when it comes to Keamy, which is the hallmark of a well-played villain. Even the camera seems to linger on Durand, who conveys malice with just a look or tilt of his head. This role should give Durand's career a well-deserved boost... without having to hide behind the dog/man makeup he wore in Dark Angel.• Share your own raves and rants about other... read more

  • Episode Recap: There's No Place Like Home, Conclusion | Lost Show Blog | 5/30/2008
This season of Lost has been so consistently entertaining and emotionally satisfying that my expectations for tonight were way beyond high. I almost knew going in that there was no way that Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse could live up to them. As is often the case with this show, my instincts were dead wrong. The very first scenes tonight provided a much-needed link back to the game-changing events that kick-started the entire Oceanic 6 storyline this time a year ago. I loved that the action... read more
  • Cheers: Sawyer Makes a Splash | Cheers & Jeers | 5/30/2008
Cheers to Lost's thrilling season finale for showing us Sawyer's best side (and no, I'm not talking about his backside). I've never been sure if Josh Holloway's ex-grifter was a good guy — until he jumped off the 'copter to save enough fuel for the Oceanic 6 to reach the freighter before it exploded. (Wouldn't it have saved more fuel if Hurley had jumped? Just asking.) Before he leaped, Sawyer asked Kate to make a promise (any guesses?), then planted a sweaty, stubbly kiss on her. The... read more

Lost's breathtaking finale will no doubt have fans feverishly dissecting its innumerable puzzles until the show returns in early 2009. (Read our recap and weigh in with your thoughts!) Locke (aka Jeremy Bentham) is in the coffin?! What "very bad things" happened after the Oceanic 6 left the island?? How in Jacob's name is Ben gonna help all of them ? plus Locke! ? get back there??? And exactly where did the former Others ringleader and that wacky frozen device move the island to? But at ... read more

It's the two-hour finale you've all been waiting for… the Oceanic 6 will finally be rescued on tonight's Lost. But not everyone seems to be too keen on the idea of getting off the island once and for all. In fact, looks like Locke is trying to convince Jack to stay on the island with him since, after all, it's his "destiny." Guess how well that appeal goes over with the good doc? • Lost's Michael Emerson, Part 2: More Burning Questions | TV Matt'rs | 5/29/2008
Lost's Season 4 finale is being presented in two parts, and thus is my season-ending Q&A with Michael Emerson, who plays Ben. Among the topics this time around: Who exactly is the "her" referred to in the episode "The Other Woman"? And who has Ben never shared a scene with, though that seems destined to change? Read on, and then kick back and enjoy the two-hour conclusion to "There's No Place Like Home," starting Thursday at 9 pm/ET. TVGuide.com: When the Others' shrink said to Juliet, "Of... read more
  • Lost's Michael Emerson Teases a "Dark, Violent" Finale | TV Matt'rs | 5/28/2008
Say what you will about wily Ben Linus, but Michael Emerson is one of Lost's most interesting cast member interviews. Maybe it's the way he searches for just the right words — always cryptic, yet sometimes telling. On the eve of the conclusion of the ABC serial's season finale, I decided to kick off a two-parter of my own. Here, Emerson talks of Ben's fractured bond with the island, names the other (Other?) character that makes his "mouth water," and chimes in on a tale of two... read more
