Snooki, George Lopez
Just two years ago, MTV was struggling to find its footing. Network staple TRL had ended, onetime hit The Hills was on its way out, and ratings were in a downward spiral. MTV faced its biggest identity crisis yet — then along came Snooki and Co.
Now, led by the crass stars of prime-time phenomenon Jersey Shore, MTV can easily be crowned the biggest winner of the summer of 2011. Jersey Shore's Season 4 premiere averaged 8.8 million viewers, and the show landed five of the top seven cable telecasts of summer. "Thank God for Jersey Shore," says MTV programming head David Janollari. Those ratings translate to big advertising bucks for MTV, notes Horizon Media analyst Brad Adgate. "I think in the 30-year history of MTV, this has been...

Lady Gaga co-hosted Monday's episode of The View and the topic of Tim Gunn's recent comments regarding Hillary Rodham Clinton's wardrobe choices came up. (Gunn had said last week on Lopez Tonight, "I think [Clinton is] confused about her gender. All these big, baggy, tailored men's suits? No, I'm really serious.") Gaga's response? "He's being a bully. I think Hillary Clinton has more important things to worry about than her hemline." Since Gaga has eclipsed Gunn's fashion relevance for a while now, we're more inclined to defer to her...

NCIS returned from hiatus to a series-high 22 million viewers on Tuesday, easily helping CBS win the night.
Our top moments of the week:
8. Best Diss: When Phaedra and Kim whip out the claws about Phaedra's due date on Real Housewives of Atlanta, the new mother takes a nasty swipe at Kim's alleged nursing degree: "Honey, just because you strip out of a nurse's outfit does not make you a nurse, baby girl." Not exactly something we thought we'd hear from the mouth of a self-proclaimed Southern belle, but we'll take it.
7. Worst Second Act: Now with some extra time on his hands, Larry King drops by The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to chat about semi-retirement and debut, as Leno dubs it, his "bright young comedy styling" in a stand-up routine. "If you're watching to book me, I tell stories..." King says, before launching into...
