In the 1870s West, a boozing, womanizing novelist assumes the identity of his literary hero and teams with an inventor to preserve justice and defend the defenseless. Taking its cue from `The Wild Wild West,' the series slyly slips in anachronistic inventions (created in the inventor's laboratory) to assist the duo in their escapades.
