Top Chef: Las Vegas
10/9c Bravo
The gourmets hammed it up last week, taking on pork-themed food and pairing it with vintage wine. But this was dining and whining, as catty dustups revolved around Robin and later the Voltaggio brothers, who are taking sibling rivalry to new heights. We now advance to tonight's supersize event (drum roll): the Restaurant Wars challenge. Here, the cooks must manage all matters of a restaurant, including serving, cooking and hosting. Top Chef Masters player Rick Moonen serves as the guest judge.

The Middle

The Middle
8:30/7:30c ABC
Originally developed — and shelved — for the 2006-07 TV season with Ricki Lake in the lead, this sitcom was finally given the green light when Patricia Heaton came on board. No offense to Ms. Lake, but with a two-time Emmy winner as the star, The Middle probably has a better shot at breaking out of the pack. The Everybody Loves Raymond vet plays a harried, married mother of three in a quirky Midwestern family that will no doubt be compared with the Malcolm in the Middle clan, but clever dysfunctional slapstick never goes out of style.

Cougar Town

Cougar Town
9:30/8:30c ABC
Lest ye think this new comedy is all about older women chasing younger men — though there is that — the producers, including Scrubs' Bill Lawrence, conveniently dodge that cliché by tying it to a high-school football team's nickname. As for that first premise, it could also describe fortysomething divorcée Jules Cobb (Courteney Cox) being figuratively chewed up and spit out by a big cat called life. Should she get back out there and date? Well, she's just not sure, and, in tonight's premiere, neither is her mortified teenage son.

Will we get an update on how Sara and Grissom are doing when Jorja Fox returns to CSI? — Michael
ADAM:
What kind of an update are you looking for, Jennifer? A big one? OK, then: Sara and Gil got hitched! Unfortunately, it sounds like married life doesn't suit Sara. "I think she's struggling a little bit with being a housewife," Marg Helgenberger says, explaining why Mrs. Grissom returns to the team. "She comes [to help us] from Paris, where her husband is giving some kind of a lecture series." Come on, Gil — PowerPoints bore everyone, especially wives.
