It goes without saying, the Jurassic Park guy has Big shoes to fill. Jeff Goldblum, whose last foray into prime-time was NBC's short-lived Raines, is joining USA Network's Law & Order: Criminal Intent. There, he will share lead crime-solving duties with Vincent D'Onofrio."Jeff's presence will add a new dimension to an already successful show," franchise overL&Ord Dick Wolf says in a statement. When asked about his exit, Noth told TVGuide.com in a statement, "When others couldn't get television shows produced in New York, Dick Wolf found a way to do it, and as a New Yorker I truly appreciate all that he has done for the city. The last few years have been fantastic, and both sides are happy with the result. 'All's well that ends well.'"Previously, Noth had called his decision to part ways with the show "totally mutual," telling the New York Post, "I've been in the Law & Order franchise a long time.... I've pretty much squeezed all the juice out of that role." Says Dick Wolf... read more

"Betrayal"

Tonight’s episode was focused on Captain Ross when an old friend’s (and former flame) younger husband goes missing. Goren and Eames are still not speaking as they are put on this case which shows nothing has been resolved with that or the rat.The young husband of Kathy a crime writer and ex-cop goes missing, and is suspected to have been the victim of a carjacking. We see that Woody was not alone and was running away with a girl his age named Avery – who also happened to be married and to an older man named Roy. This whole episode I found kind of lacking, and in the end predictable. For a minute there in the middle I thought it was Roy that had something to do with it, but then when Kathy was wiring the money to Mexico- I knew something was up. So Kathy had murdered her second husband and now Woody because they had cheated on her and all these years has been using the Captain as her ally in the police department. In the end you did feel for the Captain- especially whe... read more

I am a 32-year-old Dick Wolf ...

Question: I am a 32-year-old Dick Wolf fan who has watched Law & Order in all of its incarnations since its inception. However, I was personally angered by the cheap publicity stunt that occurred during last Sunday's episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. In case you missed it, in a blatant advertising cross-over promotion, Mary McCormack's character from In Plain Sight made a "special appearance" in the episode. The cross-over in and of itself I absolutely have no problem with. I also have little problem with the fact that McCormack's scene was essentially useless fluff and crowbarred into the main plotline. The part I do have a problem with was the unabashed promotion of In Plain Sight that was incorporated directly into the dialogue. Upon McCormack's exit, Chris Noth states, "Gee, I wonder what they do in Albuquerque for fun on Sunday night at 10 pm." The only way they could have made this worse is to have had Noth break the fourth wall and give the line directly to the camera. I ... read more

"Purgatory"

Law & Order: CI is finally back after the strike, and it seems like we didn’t miss much while the show was away. Detective Goren has been on suspension – aka purgatory- now for 5 months after going “nuts” back in January after his unofficial undercover work in a prison. We find Goren in his neighbor bar when he is approached by Mike Stoat, a former cop who is also on suspension for six months for drug use while undercover. Stoat offers Goren a job for extra money while on suspension, and gives him a gun while he ponders over accepting it. Umm, not the smartest thing ya think to give Goren a gun?!Meanwhile in the precinct, Eames is assigned a triple murder case linked to a drug lord, John Testarossa. Captain Ross allocates Eames a temporary partner Detective Daniels to help solve the crime. Throughout the episode we see Eames trying to get into contact with Goren but is ignored. She even runs into him on the street finally – and Goren totally gives her t... read more

Harold Perrineau by Bob D'Amico/ABC, Chris Noth by Eric Ogden/USA Network Photo, Grant Show by Cliff Lipson/CBS

Was Lost hasty in giving Michael the hook? Which of the Law & Orders has bid adieu to some fans' favorite? Is ABC's Life on Mars already on a shaky mission? In this launch of Mega Buzz, a new weekly column, I'll field your questions about your favorite shows. If there is a topic you want to see covered or a question you'd like to ask, this e-mail is the place to do it.Since we're just starting out here, I'll have to settle for answering my own questions. Hope I'm not a smart-ass to myself.Question: What's your take on Harold Perrineau's Lost exit Q&A?Mitovich: It's an incendiary topic, but I hear where Perrineau is coming from, on Michael's too-short return. Sure, it (partially) explained what became of the Dawson men after their Season 2 sail-away. But to leave Walt fatherless — and in doing so rob the series of its second barely-used African American character (Mr. Eko, we barely knew ye) — was a questionable move. This country now has its first for-real African-... read more

NBC Sues Dick Wolf over Contract L&Oophole

Dick Wolf by Maury Phillips/WireImage.com

NBC has sued Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, seeking no monetary damages but instead asking the Los Angeles Superior Court for an interpretation of a contract provision that both sides have been disputing since September.According to Variety, NBC contends that an agreement inked in 2004 provides Wolf with one additional year of executive-producer fees after any L&O incarnation is granted its final one-season order. Or, if the last order from NBC is for two seasons, Wolf gets no extra coin. Wolf, though, believes he is entitled to a full two-year severance package once a L&O is not renewed. Says a Wolf rep, "NBC Universal is trying to rewrite an existing contract." read more

"Senseless"

In this last episode of 2007 we start off in flashbacks in 1995 of two young boys in a Barber shop. As we flash forward through the years we see two boys and a girl in a playground throughout the years. When we get to present day; things are not looking good for the now teenage year friends. They are gunned down in the park by three suspecting gang members, but why? Major Case sends Logan and Falacci to try and make sense of this truly senseless crime of three bright college freshmen.
