Vanessa Marcil, The Nanny Express
Vanessa Marcil is playing a nanny, but not the naughty type. Rather, the Las Vegas alumna took a gamble by turning things around and playing closer to her true bookworm self in the Hallmark Channel movie The Nanny Express (premiering Saturday at 9 pm/ET).
Marcil plays Kate Hewitt, an aspiring teacher who finds herself caring for the two children of a widower (Brennan Elliot). Can Kate succeed where the previous "run-out-of-town" nannies left off, all the while tending to her ailing father (Dean Stockwell)? And might she find love with her new wards' dad along the way? After the jump, Marcil shares a look at why she chose this different role.

Christian Slater, My Own Worst Enemy
TV Guide's Senior Critic Matt Roush takes your TV questions. Have a rant, rave or burning question about your favorite show you'd like addressed? E-mail him here!
Question: What were your thoughts on the second episode of My Own Worst Enemy? I basically agreed with your opinion on the pilot, but I thought they gave us more background, key information and layers in the second episode that made it watchable. Although they did sweep your question of "why would they keep the Henry facade intact" under the rug by simply saying they can't take out the chip, they did provide a little bit of motivation for these characters to maintain the illusion. But more importantly, I thought the issues brought up in this show were a great improvement over last week's basic straightforward "guy finds himself in strange situation in alternate-persona's life." Henry's discomfort during the torture scene was interesting to me, as was his desperation to find something that proves his existence isn't fabricated. And the murder of the doctor at the end of the episode was compelling as well, clearly showing Edward as a cold-blooded assassin who must "protect the mission." I thought your review of the pilot was fair, but was just curious if you saw improvement in the second episode. — Joe

Josh Duhamel and Molly Sims by Mitchell Haaseth/NBC
Right now, Gary Scott Thompson, as the show runner for NBC's Knight Rider series (premiering Sept. 24), is focused on turning K.I.T.T. into an even leaner, meaner crimefighting machine. But sharing some bandwith with that mission is the idea of giving closure to the Las Vegas fans who saw their series hurried off the air as a casualty of the WGA strike. Has the ship sailed as far as hope for that goes? "I dont think so, as far as myself and some of the cast members are concerned," Thompson told me during a detour from an in-depth look at the new Knight Rider. "We're actively trying to figure out how to do something."Thompson says that Josh Duhamel and Molly Sims are particularly interested in spelling out what became of Danny, Delinda and their baby. "I talked to them both the other day, and they said we should do something. It was their characters that were really left hanging, and they were very upset by it."While one possible fix would find Thompson, Duhamel and Sims simpl...

James Lesure by Mitchell Haaseth/NBC Photo
It's a sad world where Las Vegas' reliable Mike gets second billing behind Rosie Perez. Yet that's what happened last week at the TCA press tour, when NBC trumpeted the guest-casting of the sometimes polarizing Latina on Lipstick Jungle, then virtually added, as an aside, "Oh, and James Lesure, too."How does the Vegas vet fit into the Jungle's sophomore season? Sources tell me Lesure will be playing the role of Griffin, boss to both Kim Raver's Nico and Brooke Shields' Wendy. I'm also hearing that over the course of Lesure's multi-episode run, Griffin might strike up a certain chemistry with Nico, though it might not necessarily lead to (her busy) boudoir. What do you say, Vegas fans? With Josh off doing Transformers 2 and the reunion movie pretty darn squashed, are you glad to see "Mike" back on TV? Matt Mitovich

Lauren Holly by Art Streiber/CBS, Josh Duhamel by Mitch Haddad/NBC Photo, Erica Durance by Michael Courtney/The CW
Thank you all for the outstanding response and terrific questions. On with this week's buzz! Lois fans from Smallville have one request: Throw us a freakin' bone here! Please tell us she will finally be in every episode in Season 8. LukeMatt Mitovich: Would that I could, Luke (and the scores of others seeking such assurance). But at this point I am hearing that Erica Durance's sitch remains "the same as always" that is, she'll do 13 or so episodes though there is a slight chance we may eke out an extra one or two. Small consolation, I know, but you should understand that delivering 22 episodes' worth of Lois... well, like Denise Richards, it is complicated. I read your columns all the time. Do you have any Grey's Anatomy scoop? BethanyMitovich: Flattery will get you everywhere
but in this case, only a date: June 25. That's when Grey's starts filming the new season. Will the NCIS season finale re-air? It got deleted on my DVR. BarbMitovich: R...

Question: I have been waiting and waiting to hear if there will be a resolution to Las Vegas. Will we get to know what happens to Danny's and Delinda's baby? Where was Coop when everyone thought he was dead? And who ends up with the casino? Inquiring minds need to know — and having Danny and Delinda walk across the screen with a baby in Knight Rider just ain't gonna cut it!
Answer: There may be room for some cautious optimism. I cornered Ben Silverman at Monday's NBC upfront Experience soiree and asked him point-blank whether he plans to give Vegas fans some closure in the form of a wrap-up movie — and he didn't say no. Just the opposite, in fact. He said he would very much like to make that happen, although he hedged when I pressed him on the who-what-where-when. Now it's entirely possible he was just blowing smoke up this Aushole

Blake Lively and Penn Badgley in Gossip Girl by Giovanni Rufino/The CW
It was only a matter of time. Media watchdog group Parents Television Council is hot on the Louboutin heels of the CW's "OMFG" marketing campaign for Gossip Girl, saying it's just too sultry. The print and online campaign has been heating up for the past few weeks (you can take a peek here!).The Council takes issue in particular, with what they say is a "sexually suggestive photo showing a teenage boy kissing a girl's cleavage." In a statement, PTC said it "deplores the CW's deliberate use of profanity and sexual imagery to exploit and further corrupt young viewers." Further, the Council adds, GG "glamorizes casual sex and drug use among teens. Storylines have featured a would-be teen rapist, threesome among teens, and teenage girls having sex with adults."Gossip Girl and the CW are only the latest target, however, of PTC wrath. In the past, the Council has also taken issue with shows including Dexter, America's Next Top Model and Las Vegas, among other targets, such as the networks...

Las Vegas; Grey’s Anatomy
Question: Any news on the Las Vegas front? Has Ben Silverman come to his senses and agreed to give fans a real ending?
Answer: Yes and no. Yes, I have some news on the Las Vegas front, but it doesn't involve Ben Silverman coming to his senses re: Vegas. According to one of my NBC moles, exec producer Gary Scott Thompson — who's now helming the Peacock's Knight Rider reboot — has devised a Plan B in the event that Vegas is not given a proper farewell. And, apparently, said plan involves Josh Duhamel and Molly Simms walking through an episode of Knight Rider cradling a newborn baby! I. Kid. You. Not.

Katee Sackhoff; Josh Duhamel; Kate Walsh
Question: Any update on the possibility of a Las Vegas movie or any other form of a series finale?
Answer: There's been a flurry of activity behind the scenes to give fans some closure, but, unfortunately, all it's amounted to is a chilly frost between NBC and Vegas producers. According to several sources both at the network and the show, NBC initially asked series creator Gary Scott Thompson to tack a scene or two onto the final pre-strike episode — you know, the one that concluded with the infamous "to be continued" — so that it didn't end on a cliff-hanger. Thompson allegedly refused, claiming their idea was insipid and he'd rather be a victim of the strike than force a ridiculous ending down fans' throats. The Peacock later asked him to post a wrap-up on NBC.com, an idea he also balked at. "He thought it would undermine fans' attempts at
