Premise: Remake of the Jack Webb series keeps its realistic view of cop work and just-the-facts dialogue, plus the names of the principal LAPD detectives (Joe Friday and his partner, Frank Smith), voice-over narration and the celebrated dum-duh-dum-dum music theme. This treatment by `Law & Order' executive producer Dick Wolf started out simply as `Dragnet.'
