House of Cards Season 2, Episode 10

The episode revolved around the ring that Kyle sold and how to get the ring back, since it opens the box that Kyle found in the remains of Zzyzx. Ballantine (MadaCorp) thought things were going too slowly, so he invited himself to dinner with the Tragers. I am not sure how this would speed things up, unless he wanted Kyle to see that he possessed the ring. Nicole seemed to take the unexpected dinner guest well. Kyle, Foss and Declan hatched a plan to get the ring back, which almost didn't work out, but it resulted in Foss sacrificing himself to make sure Kyle and Declan escaped. Again, it seemed too easy for Kyle, Declan and Foss to bypass all the security and get into MadaCorp. Speaking of security, that place seemed very 1984 to me: retinal scanners and CCTV cameras all over the place, yet there's no security at the entrance? You can just walk in and go through a metal detector. Most buildings I've worked in since the early '90s require you to swipe your ID card to pass through a gate or a turnstile, not ropes and a metal detector like an airport. If that place was really so secure, why not require IDs to push a button in the elevator, or a door before the chamber that needs an ID/retinal scan in order to open, before you even get to the guard? Why did the guard leave his post to check out the stairwell? In most secure places, another guard would have been dispatched to check out the stairwell. While Kyle was inside and using Ballantine's computer to control the various systems, he discovered his and Jessi's files and started to read them. I guess we will have to wait a few episodes to discover what he found out. The way Jessi draws bothered Nicole, so she took one of the pictures and compared it to what Kyle had drawn. She ended up identifying the ZZyzx logo. Jessi, meanwhile, discovered Emily's secret and befriends Paige, Emily's daughter. Josh and Andy are growing closer, thanks to the advice that Nicole offered. I like the way he swore his mother to secrecy by requesting a therapy session. So at the end we got to see the contents of the box. It's a really bad picture of Adam and someone that looks like Jessi. It was hinted at tonight, during the preview of next week's episode, that there are only three more episodes left to the season, which means the last episode of this season will be Labor Day, September 3. I guess the remaining episode order will be for the third season. So what do you guys think? show less
