Question: Fellow Hoosier here. Love your column. I don't have a question really, but wanted to express my displeasure in the fact that ABC has canceled Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue. I was excited about both of these shows not only for the story lines but for the cast. I'm becoming rather weary of investing time in a show only to have it canceled. Any hope either series will be picked up by another network? OK, so maybe I had a question after all. — Bonnie

Ready to be Roasted: David Hasselhoff Says "Bring it on!"

In commercials for the Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff (airing Sunday, August 15, 10/9c), the actor gamely acknowledges the abundance of material that is likely to be slung at him at the legendary no-holds-barred event: Knight Rider, Baywatch, the undying devotion of his German fans to his music and, of course, "the video." That's the infamous clip from 2007 in which one of Hasselhoff's two daughters pleads with her shirtless, intoxicated father to stop drinking, all while he munches on a hamburger. It will all be easy fodder for confirmed roasters like... read more

Jeers: MSNBC Knightly News

Jeers to MSNBC for taking time out of its 24-hour news cycle to provide a blatant plug for sister network NBC's crappy Knight Rider remake. We're in the midst of an economic crisis - not to mention a presidential election - yet "The Place for Politics" stops the proverbial presses so that anchor Alex Witt can grill star Justin Bruening about whether he had to take driving lessons before getting behind KITT's wheel. Makes you wonder who's really in the driver's seat at MSNBC. Is that you, Ben Silverman?

Premise: A former cop gets a new identity and teams with a talking supercar to fight crime after a wealthy benefactor saves his life. The chiseled lead actor had his fans, but the show was truly driven by the sleek, droll automobile KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand), a customized Pontiac Trans-Am that kept the hero on the straight and narrow between fistfights and female conquests. A TV-movie reunited man and car in 1991, and a sequel series, `Team Knight Rider,' ran on ABC in 1997-98.
