Season 1, Episode 13 Huey Long

First Aired: October 15, 1986

Burns' 1986 profile of Louisiana populist "Kingfish" Huey Long combines archival footage with the comments of supporters and critics of the Depression-era politician (1893-1935), who was governor and, later, a U.S. senator. Unfortunately, says historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr., Long's corruption and heavy-handed methods "outweighed the good he did." Also interviewed: Long's son, former senator Russell Long, and sister, Lucille Long Hunt.
