Premise: A Sunday-afternoon public-affairs show hosted by Charles Van Doren. `Kaleidoscope' aired before he admitted taking part in the rigging of `Twenty-One,' the quiz show that had made him enormously popular (and got him TV jobs like this one). Segments on this series ranged from Communist East Germany to atomic energy to the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes, and commentators included David Brinkley and Edwin Newman.
