just shoot me
A slick long-running ensemble sitcom set at a glossy women's magazine run by a bombastic publisher. Marked by sly repartee and gleeful double entendres, it follows the antics of a staff that includes the boss's daughter, a serious journalist who has no love for his publication; a hard-living fashion editor; a neurotic photographer; and a scheming, fawning assistant named Dennis, who can be quite the menace.

  • Today's Stars...Yesterday! Who Have You Spotted? | DVD News | 5/23/2008
With the long Memorial Day holiday this weekend, let's have some fun and play a game! We've actually played this game before, last October. I had a different blog back then, called "DVD Guy", and I called the game "Today's Stars...Yesterday!" We all had a great deal of fun, and lots of readers chimed in with their own examples of big-name celebs they've seen "in smaller roles, during leaner times".The way to play is very simple: Think of hot "new" stars that you see in any current TV show, and try to think of where you've spotted them on DVDs of older programs. Probably only slightly older shows, but there's absolutely no limit. Let's just have a blast with it! I'll give us several examples, just to get us started:• Grey's Anatomy wrapped their fourth season last night, and the younger Dr. Grey wrapped her first full season in the show. Chyler Leigh's straight-laced turn as "Lexi" might not make her recognizable, though, to the few of us who saw her as punk-rockin', spike-m... read more
  • Laura San Giacomo Details Her Devotion to Saving Grace | Today's News: Our Take | 8/13/2007
As Holly Hunter's churchgoing confidante on the gritty-yet-spiritual Saving Grace (Mondays at 10 pm/ET), Laura San Giacomo gives notice that TNT's uncompromising new drama is no one-woman show. We spoke with the former Just Shoot Me star, who reflected on her career, working with Hunter and matters of faith. TVGuide.com: Do you believe in angels? Do you believe in God?Laura San Giacomo: [Laughs] Well, it's certainly something I've had to examine over the last couple of months. I've always been kind of a spiritual person, but I've really had to focus a lot on God. Rhetta believes in God and is a Catholic and I was raised Catholic so I understand that world. So I've just been reading lots of things about Catholicism. Lots of books by scientists who believe in God. Also a bit of watching the Colin Hawkins debate read more
  • Wendie Malick: Will Big Day's Mom Cave to Reefer Madness? | Today's News: Our Take | 12/12/2006
Will Wendie Malick ever get a chance to play a demure, down-to-earth role? Let's hope not. Best known for her seven-season, Emmy-nominated stint as narcissistic fashion editor Nina Van Horn on Just Shoot Me, Malick has made a career out of playing outrageous small-screen characters, including Brian Benben's neurotic ex on Dream On and a husky-voiced lounge singer during the final year of Frasier. Currently on ABC's mid-season sitcom, Big Day (Tuesdays at 9 pm/EST) — a real-time comedy about wedding-day drama — Malick adds a read more
