Production has begun in Toronto on the next big movie musical, Disney's Camp Rock, slated to debut in summer 2008 as part of the blockbuster Disney Channel Original Movie machine. Friday's premiere of Jump In roped in an audience of 8.2 million total viewers, making it Disney Channel's most-watched telecast ever, even surpassing the previous benchmark (7.8 mil) set by High School Musical. That same night's debut of Cory in the House, meanwhile, drew 7.6 million, making it basic cable's second-most-watched program of the day, behind Jump In.
Corbin Bleu, Jump In!
Corbin Bleu, who unwittingly amassed quite the following as a star of High School Musical, now has fresh Disney Channel fare to share. Premiering this Friday, Jan. 12, at 8 pm/ET, Jump In! finds the almost 18-year-old actor playing Izzy, a boxing hopeful who gets a ropeful when he begins moonlighting as (gasp!) a competitive double-Dutch ringer. (Bleu's real-life pop, David Reivers, plays his dad in the movie.)
