Kimmel Discusses His Monday Night Football Ban

Imagine finding out you’re fired by reading about it in the New York Times. That’s just what happened to ABC late-night talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel, who kept colleagues and fans laughing as a guest on the long-running sports show Monday Night Football on Oct. 15."I guess the executive producer was upset with some jokes I made on the air, and I’m still not sure which ones, but he announced to the New York Times that I was banned from Monday Night Football," says Kimmel. "I was surprised — I was just a guest [commentator] — this is the first time I’ve been fired from a job I didn’t have."Kimmel adds, "I don’t feel I owe anyone an apology; quite the reverse, actually. Jimmy Kimmel's Emergency Surgery

Talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel underwent a successful emergency appendectomy on Wednesday night in Los Angeles, his rep Lewis Kay tells TV Guide. “The rest of this week's tapings of Jimmy Kimmel Live have been canceled until he is back on his feet," says Kay. "He is resting comfortably and is looking forward to getting back to work.”Kimmel is both host and executive producer of Live, which features a bevy of his family and friends, including his cousin Sal, his Uncle Frank, his Aunt Chippy and his parents. ABC Announces Its Fall Schedule

Scheduled to debut next season are four new comedy entries — Carpoolers, Cavemen, Miss/Guided and Sam I Am; along with seven new drama series — Big Shots, Cashmere Mafia, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone, Private Practice, Pushing Daisies and Women's Murder Club. Never has the word "Andy" been such a game-changer, eh?At this past Friday's taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live, comedian Andy Dick had to be forcibly removed from the stage when he ignored repeated requests to cease touching/poking/caressing Guest No. 2, Ivanka Trump. Kimmel Climbs Aboard Anatomy's Coattails

Looking to capitalize on the Thursday ratings surge spurred on by this season's relocation of Grey's Anatomy, ABC is moving Jimmy Kimmel Live's repeat night to the now NFL-football-less Monday, meaning the late-night talker will air a first-run episode on Thursdays.
