John Cho will guest-star as a private-school principal who squares off with Eddie Kaye Thomas' public school veep in three episodes of Fox's 'Til Death this coming season. With Kal Penn now on House, both Harold and Kumar should have plenty of cash for future White Castle runs. Also per the Hollywood Reporter, Jessalyn Gilsig, aka the mom of Heroes' Claire, has joined the cast of NBC's Backyards & Bullets pilot, playing Mathew St. Patrick's wife.... Camryn Manheim (Ghost Whisperer), Leslie Hope (24) and Kathy Baker (Picket Fences) are all on board for Jesse Stone: Thin Ice, the fifth installment in CBS' hit TV-movie franchise.

CBS has ordered a fifth installment of Tom Selleck's sleuthing series: Jesse Stone: Thin Ice, to start shooting in August in Nova Scotia. Hallmark Channel has grabbed rights to the previous four entries, with the first set to air Aug. 4.... USA Network has greenlit 11 episodes of To Love and Die, a series starring Shiri "Don't Call Me Amy From" Appleby as a gal with abandonment issues she believes can be resolved if she could track down the father (Tim Matheson) she never knew. (Oops, turns out Dad is an assassin-for-hire!) The cast also includes Frances Fisher, Christine Adams, Kristin Datillo and possibly Ivan Sergei. Look for an early-2008 premiere.

This Tuesday's ratings, at a glance: American Idol's final performance show delivered 24.51 million total viewers, a 1.2 mil bump from last Tuesday but down 5.7 mil from a year ago. Lead-out On the Lot, vying with the Dancing with the Stars finale, premiered to just 8.97 mil less than half of the audience retention House was getting and not at all helped by 9:30 tune-out to the tune of four mil. DWTS bowed out before 22.6 mil, down 4.6 mil from its previous finale. Tom Selleck's latest Jesse Stone telepic pulled almost 13 mil for CBS, two mil fewer than the series' year-ago entry. Among scripted season-enders, NCIS put up a typical 13.88 mil; Veronica Mars' last two episodes ever* did 1.83 mil and 2.14 mil; and SVU (10.21 mil), slipping 2.3 mil, came in third at 10 pm.* See the Ausiello Report, now, for an intriguing update on Mars' fate.

Tom Selleck still has that compelling Magnum charm, even as the somewhat dissipated Jesse Stone. Tonight in Jesse Stone: Sea Change (9 pm/ET, on CBS), the fourth in a series of TV-movies based on Robert B. Parker's best-sellers, boredom leads small-town police chief Jesse to reopen an unsolved 1992 bank robbery and murder. Selleck spoke to us about the Jesse movies, as well as his past and future projects, including his move to Las Vegas.
