As I said in last week's blog, this shortened season will affect how Jericho fans will emotionally respond to the new storylines. Unfortunately, those creative hindrances made its presence felt in "Condor."I realize I am putting myself in hot water, but realize that my problems lie only with this dreadfully short season. For the conspiracy nuts (and Jericho NUTS!), this shortened season should satisfy the fans with desires to immediately experience the crux of the action! But those that enjoyed Season One's vast character focus will be disappointed by the current season's more limited scope. There were two narrative styles used to shine light on the characters during Jericho's first season. One method involved focusing on the primary storyline, while letting the characters grow in response to their objectives. The principle example of this was Jake Green. He earlier departed Jericho as a delinquent outcast, but would return to consistently save the people who once shunned him. Flashb...

Anyone who isn't familiar with premise of Jericho should read the "Strike Survival Guide" that I have written. When everyone is on the same page, let's all take a peek at the long awaited continuation to the Jericho saga!Last year's finale ended with a cliffhanger showing the town of Jericho, Kansas fighting off the invading neighboring town of New Bern. But just as the "New Bern War" started, the screen went black and the end-credits began. It's no wonder that Jericho fans fought so hard to save the show."Reconstruction" briefly shows the casualties that were accumulated during the war (lots of explosions!!!), but it smartly moves past this to begin a new season's worth of storylines. Last season, the town of Jericho was faced with the obstacle of refashioning its society to survive the aftermath of a tragedy. Now, they are tested with a self-appointed government, The Allied States of America, attempting to reconfigure their civilization without the foundation of democracy!Major Ed...

Skeet Ulrich by Monty Brinton/CBS
Cheers to Jericho for sending a shout-out to the fans who saved the show. CBS' postapocalyptic drama rose from the ashes of cancellation after devotees inundated the network with thousands of pounds of peanuts (a reference to a line spoken by Skeet Ulrich in last season's finale). So in this year's opener, when Ulrich's character visited a wounded comrade in the hospital, there was a close-up of, yes, peanuts on the patient's bedside table. That's goober-riffic! Read and react to Bruce's opinions on CBS' Welcome to the Captain and more! Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board. We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on TVGuide.com or in TV Guide magazine!

Jericho by Andrew Cone/CBS
The when: Season 2 premieres Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 10 pm/ET.Why watch?: The brave citizens of Jericho cling to the hope of normalcy after the country survives a nuclear attack on 23 of its most prominent cities.Who's who: Jericho has a large ensemble of characters, but with the show's high mortality rate, that number is steadily diminishing. The show's main characters are Jake Green and Robert Hawkins. Jake Green returned to Jericho just prior to the attack on the neighboring city of Denver. Once an irresponsible troublemaker, Jake has grown into the leader of Jericho. Much of Robert Hawkins' past is shrouded in mystery. As an affiliate of the black-ops sector of the government, he tried unsuccessfully to prevent the nuclear attacks from taking place. He responded by extracting his family from Washington, D.C., and taking them to Jericho where they would be safe. Robert also averted another attack by stealing a nuclear bomb from the enemy, bringing it with him to Jericho. What's next...

Ashley Scott and Skeet Ulrich, Jericho
You know the story. Last year, CBS said, "You're canceled!" Jericho "Rangers," taking a cue from the show's hero, Jake Green (played by Skeet Ulrich) and also Anthony C. McAuliffe, a U.S. General during World War II, responded firmly with, "Nuts!" Now Jericho is back for a seven-episode run starting tonight at 10 pm/ET on CBS.
"There's been a little angel on Jericho's shoulder," Carol Barbee, executive producer, tells TVGuide.com. "We didn't think the seven episodes CBS gave us were very much, but if we'd been given eight, we'd have a finale sitting in pieces unedited [because of the strike]. Instead, we have seven shows ready to go."
The series concluded Season 1 with the title town and neighboring community, New Bern, ready to go to war. The action doesn't slow down in tonight's episode, appropriately tit

Question: Regarding your review of the second season of Jericho: Have you seen all the Season 2 episodes? Or just the first three? Is the problem a lack of new character development or existing character development? Did you rate Jericho favorably to begin with? If not, is your review sour grapes now? Just curious.
Answer: Why would this be sour grapes? I'm happy for the fans that they got their show back. I would be happier if the show were so good that I could get as excited about its return myself. Jericho isn't a terrible show, and at times it can be a pretty exciting suspense drama, especially given how much action is packed into this compressed seven-episode mini-season. But the show's flaws and essential mediocrity are also exposed by the plot's move beyond the dynamics of the town's post-nuke survival (which was my favorite aspect of the first season) to a more conventional conspiracy thriller with thuddingly obvious parallels to the Revolutionary War. I wish I'd had more room
