Two simultaneously unfolding romantic stories involve a writer (Johnathon Schaech) who stuns his girlfriend (Kathleen Rose Perkins) by breaking up with her because of unresolved feelings for a past love (Christina Applegate), whose life is revealed in flashbacks.
