Jack Paar Program
Paar's first series after leaving `The Tonight Show' was a prime-time hour that included live and filmed interviews, comedy and musical acts, and even home movies of global trips the host took with his family. The entertainment was often first-rate (the show had performance footage of the Beatles a month before their appearance on `The Ed Sullivan Show'), but the lively and unpredictable conversation---Paar's forte---was even better, with guests ranging from Judy Garland to Richard Nixon.
