It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Episode Recap: "The Gang Exploits the Mortgage Crisis" Season 5, Episode 1

The gang returns for a fifth season on Sunny! In this week's premiere Frank, Mac and Dennis "exploit the mortgage crisis"; Charlie duels with the law; And Dee is pregnant? Wait, what? Read the season premiere's recap and be sure to comment on your favorite Sunny moments as well as the touring performances of Dayman!

Welcome to Philadelphia everyone! My name is Alex and I will be recapping this wonderfully exciting and disastrous (in a good way) season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. This week, "The Gang Exploits the Mortgage Crisis" and Dayman comes to a city near you!

Let's get straight to the much anticipated premiere. What could the guys be up to this time around? How about flipping houses? Frank buys a home on foreclosure and has plans to flip it for a "boat-load" with the help of some "Honey & Vinegar." In their attempt to sell the home for profits, Mac and Dennis team up to form "Honey & Vinegar Realty" where Mac acts as the overly aggressive, in-your-face, you-better-buy-this-house-or-you're-dead agent (Vinegar) and Dennis is his casual, woman-loving and suave persona (Honey). After only one visit, they "successfully" sell the home.

Charlie reads up on the law this week and claims to be an expert. Whether it is the bird law, mortgage laws or even lawyer laws, he's got it all down. Or does he? No. He's Charlie Kelly, our favorite Philadelphian who owns a handful of outfits. Unicorn t-shirt anyone? In this week's episode, Charlie becomes obsessed with the law. Well, if you are a follower of the show, you know that Charlie knows nothing beyond creating an awesome musical, huffing paint and glue, making awesome grilled peanut butter sandwiches and creating the highly anticipated "Kitten Mittens" (as yet to be seen this season). Oh, one more thing — he is the man behind Green Man. Charlie challenges a lawyer to a duel since that is how it used to be done, according to a book Charlie has been reading. When the real lawyer accepts the high-noon duel, Charlie runs.

Then there's sweet Dee. Wow! In her latest scam, she signs up to be a surrogate mother to a rich couple — she's expecting to make $20,000. I'll give credit to Dee here, she did her research and offers different packages — if you want to call it that. Essentially becoming a sales woman, she tries to sell her surrogate services as an awesome package, but the couple would have to have over five kids. They settle with one. Sweet Dee explores the couple's home and discovers the pool in the yard, which eventually leads us to the final scene where the whole gang finds themselves swimming in the pool, having catfights and performing jackknifes off the diving board.

This week's premiere is definitely another classic episode. The gang exploits what they can, gets themselves into trouble and causes others hell.

What did you guys think of the premiere? Is anyone else as excited for next week's episode?

Lastly, did any readers have the privilege to attend a live Sunny performance of The Dayman? Let us know what you thought. The gang was in Philadelphia, literally, to perform the musical Thursday night.
