Independent Lens Episode: "The Longoria Affair"

Episode Synopsis: "The Longoria Affair" examines the ramifications of a Three Rivers, Texas, funeral home's refusal to host the funeral for WWII Pvt. Felix Longoria because of his Hispanic heritage (it helped spur the national Mexican American civil rights movement.) Longoria was eventually buried in Arlington National Cemetery thanks to the intervention of future president Lyndon B. Johnson, who was a freshman senator from Texas at the time.
