Question: Your comments on the Night Court actors reminded me that I had a crush on the woman who played the court clerk before Mac. What was her name, and did she do anything else besides Night Court?

Answer: That she did, and that she does, Bill. You're thinking of actress Karen Austin and her character, court clerk Lana Wagner, who was replaced on the comedy after a season by Charlie Robinson's Mac Robinson.

Rick Hunter is a cop without a partner. His father is part of the mob. The Captain of the precinct is out to get him and won't let Hunter answer any of the calls over the police radio. Hunter happens upon a bank robbery that is about to occur and captures four robbers, shooting many rounds,making a mess. The Captain is furious, assigns Sgt. Chawillaker as Hunter's new partner and makes Hunter commit to visiting the new department psychiatrist, Dr. Bollin.

Premise: A rogue, `Dirty Harry'-type detective enforces his own brand of tough justice (`works for me' was his catchphrase), and doesn't let red tape stand in the way. The son of a mobster, Det. Sgt. Rick Hunter is often paired with the no-nonsense Det. Sgt. Dee Dee McCall (`the brass cupcake') and often relies heavily on information from a savvy street hustler.
