Charting efforts to locate the British battle cruiser Hood and the Bismarck, the German battleship that sank the Hood in WWII. Leading the July 2001 search: American David Mearns. The Bismarck was found in the Bay of Biscay, off France; the Hood some 1100 miles away in the Strait of Denmark. Also: a history of the May 24, 1941, battle, in which the Hood took a direct hit and sank in less than three minutes. Among those interviewed: Ted Briggs, one of only three survivors among the 1400-man crew.
