The residents of a seedy hotel (the `e' in its neon sign had long since burned out) are the focus of this Norman Lear sitcom adapted from Lanford Wilson's award-winning off-Broadway play. The series was racy and controversal in its time (characters included prostitutes and a homosexual couple), but it was strongly cast and written, and would likely have fared better today.
