We Have the 411 on Reno 911!

From Barney Fife to Barney Miller, cops and comedy have made hysterical bedfellows. Comedy Central's cult hit Reno 911! is proof that the bumbling-police shtick remains in fine hands. Either way, I again completely underestimated my own shock at Jerry being safe for another week, while Stacy and Lisa were left to the suspense of the bottom two. Man, I am so sucked into this drama! I don't know what I would have done if Stacy had been out. Do people really want Jerry to win? On to the entertaining elements of the show — and by that I decidedly do not mean Michael Bublé's performance. I'm talking about Tom Bergeron's Charlie Chaplin-esque quickstep. So ador read more

Premise: A classic varation on tic-tac-toe in which celebrities field trivia questions and play on a nine-square board. Contestants must decide whether the celeb answers are correct, but the appeal of this durable game (which has been revived, in daytime and prime time, several times) has less to do with Xs and Os than the laughs generated from the `squares.' At the start of its run in the '60s, they included Wally Cox, Rose Marie, George Gobel, Charley Weaver and, most unforgettably, Paul Lynde.
