Harper's Island Star Talks Killers and Conflict

Adam Campbell

Starring on CBS' Harper's Island — which now airs Saturdays at 9 pm/ET — is a death sentence waiting to happen. The closed-end, 13-week mystery series takes place on an island where guests of an impending wedding are being killed off one by one. Adam Campbell, who plays Cal Vandeusen, spoke to TVGuide.com about what it's like to work on a show where your fate isn't sealed, what we can expect from upcoming episodes, and why none of the wedding guests have yet to notice their friends are disappearing.

TVGuide.com: You have a pretty comedic past. How did you end up on a mystery series?
Adam Campbell:
When I first read it, the role was written quite...

Harper's Island Takes a Stab at New Saturday Slot

Harper's Island

Because Harper's Island is making a killing in the land of DVR playback and online screaming streaming, CBS is shuttling the slasher series to Saturdays at 9 pm/ET, effectively immediately.

Though many deem that destination a "death slot," CBS senior executive VP Kelly Kahl posits that the preliminary returns on the freshman series' DVR+7 playback and online streaming data "suggest a passionate audience for Harper's outside its current Thursday time period borders.

Supernatural, Harper's Island Star Talks of Life and Death

Jim Beaver

Life is twice as nice for fans of Jim Beaver starting this Thursday, when at 9 pm/ET they can find him playing Bobby in fresh episodes of the CW's Supernatural, then at 10 watch him play sheriff on CBS' Harper's Island.

That, however, is far from all Beaver has going on. He has also just released Life's That Way, a novel chronicling his wife's battle with cancer — an ordeal which happened to coincide with their daughter's autism diagnosis. Beaver found time to talk to TVGuide.com about his labors of the small-screen and of the heart. Read the full Q&A after the jump. read more

Could you give me any scoop you have on Grey's Anatomy, ideally something about Mark and Lexie? I need my fix! — Frances
MATT: Does McSteamy "do" parents? That's the big question in the April 30 episode, when a now-sober Thatcher Grey invites his daughter and her new beau out to dinner. Now, just supposing that Mark is down for some dining, can the reformed cad put on a good show? And this just in: A source tells me that on Mer and Der's wedding day, airing May 7, the groom gifts his bride with (incurable romantic alert!) her first solo surgery. How that fits into a little blue Tiffany box, I do not know.

The past two seasons of CSI have ended with a cliff-hanger. Season 7 ended with Sara left in the Vegas desert by the Miniature Killer, and Season 8 ended with Warrick being accused of murder (and eventually murdered himself). Will Season 9 follow that same pattern? — Jocelyn read more

Will Harper's Island Be the Death of Harry Hamlin?

Harry Hamlin, Harper's Island

Someone's weeding out a wedding party in Harper's Island, a new CBS series premiering this Thursday at 10 pm/ET. The concept? Over the course of 13 and only 13 episodes, a killer sets his or her sights on the guests at a destination wedding, having at 'em the way a drunk best man has at an insecure bridesmaid.

Among the cornucopia of characters, Christopher Gorham (Ugly Betty) plays the groom, while Harry Hamlin is his fun- and ladies-loving Uncle Marty. On the other side of the aisle, Katie Cassidy (Supernatural) is the bride, and Richard Burgi (Desperate Housewives) her domineering dad. Hamlin shared a look at this Ten Little Indians-style slashfest. See what he had to say, after the jump. read more

When will Kim Bauer be coming back to 24? And will it have anything to do with the bio-weapon Jack has been exposed to? — Yong
MATT: When I asked Kiefer Sutherland about the nature of Kim's latest encore (slated for mid-April), he said, "Something has happened to Jack, and it's he who asks for her — normally it's the other away around." Kiefer went on to call the father-daughter reunion "very human and real ... a part of the show I'm excited for the audience to see." So your theory sounds about right. Just don't expect the now-married Kim to have Pony Boy at her side; her Season 5 romance apparently didn't take.

Are we ever going to see the Scavo twins on Desperate Housewives again? I love those goofy bastards. — Rachel
MICKEY: No word on Dumb or Dumber, but if it's adolescent angst you're hankering for, get a load of this: Another Housewife will soon ... read more
