Grey's Anatomy Recap: "Let the Bad Times Roll" Season 8, Episode 22

The tables have been turned on the Grey's Anatomy residents when they're put in the hot seat while taking the medical boards. Who failed and who prevailed? Check out how each of the docs did below. Plus: Seattle Grace is filled with babies, old friends and new doctors!

Meredith: She's still suffering from the stomach flu, so while trying to answer questions, she's also trying not to throw up, which isn't easy since her examiner is almost intentionally bringing up squeamish topics. At one point, she even decides she wants to quit. She finally succumbs to throwing up during the testing, but powers on, lest they fail her. Verdict: Passed.

Cristina: Her proctor speaks very slowly, which is very frustrating for Cristina and so she ends up answering questions far too quickly. She continues to give advanced answers, which makes her examiner second-guess her, in turn, making her second-guess herself. She finally ends up shouting at him, showing off that she could essentially answer these questions in her sleep. Verdict: Passed.

Alex: He's massively late, so he tries to run the whole way there. Once he does arrive, he's missed the first session, meaning he has to pass every other board or face failure. He seems to breeze through the rest of the sessions until he messes up on a trick question. He also ends up yelling at his examiners. Verdict: Passed.

April: She asks too many questions, and anytime she does answer, she's constantly second-guessing herself. After learning that she's killed a hypothetical patient, she begins to lose her cool, finally ripping off her jacket, revealing her sweat-soaked blouse underneath. Later, she and Jackson have a breakdown in the men's bathroom, which turns into them having sex in a stall. A great way to relax between sessions! Once she's in her final session, she decides to risk it all and declares that she's been hiding her devotion to God all along for fear of judgment. At the last minute, however, she does give perfect answers, but it's too late. Verdict: Failed.

Jackson: He's distracted after finding out that his mother, Catherine, slept with former Chief Webber. On top of that, he's completely thrown off when his mother, who's an examiner in the next room, is super loud. (If you've read the "April" section, you know how he eventually relaxes.) He goes back in for his final session completely calm. Verdict: Passed.

Meanwhile, back in Seattle:
-Mark's girlfriend Julia sees how responsible he is, having a baby and all, so she wants to start a family of her own with him. Derek eventually tells Lexie, who totally freaks out. Lexie finally admits to Mark that she's still in love with him, but we're left with a cliff-hanger.
-Arizona's old friend comes to the hospital because he has cancer, and he's further along than he initially admitted. After opening him up, Callie realizes that the cancer has spread and there's not much hope of helping him. Arizona gets angry, frustrated that he didn't come to the hospital sooner.
-Owen has enlisted Bailey to woo some new candidates in case they lose some of their current residents to other hospitals. The new batch of talent, however, is so spoiled that Bailey can't take it.
