Grey's Anatomy Episode Recap: "Adrift and at Peace" Season 7, Episode 10

In this week's episode, Derek takes a troubled Cristina on a fishing trip to put her mind at ease. Meanwhile, Teddy takes on the case of a dying patient (Scott Foley) in hopes that her failure at being Cristina's mentor will be rectified.

Meredith worries about Cristina going on the fishing trip with Derek because it will keep her away from the hospital for even longer. She takes her frustrations out on Owen, who let his wife go on the trip. The pair are stuck working together on a case where a husband and wife fell into a ravine. The wife is stable because she landed on top of her husband, but he is quickly bleeding out.

Owen and Meredith go directly into surgery, where Mer snaps at him for not having a plan for the patient. Owen takes a radical route, but he tells her never to talk to him like that in the OR again; they need to keep their personal problems outside of surgery. After Meredith adds an extra stitch that Owen told her not to, he kicks her out of the OR.

Owen tells Mer she is reckless, and he doesn't want that in his OR or around his wife. She blames Owen for letting Cristina fall apart, but he retorts that not everyone is as strong as Mer, who would offer to take a bullet. "She isn't you, Meredith," he says.

Teddy meets her future patient, Henry, in the elevator just as he's heading off to propose to his girlfriend. Unfortunately, the proposal doesn't go well, which is better really since he was only proposing to get on her health insurance. He tapped out his insurance and has been charging his surgeries to his credit card ever since. He's going to be discharged, so Teddy tries to persuade the chief to take the case pro bono.

The board says they'll send Henry home with a first-alert bracelet, and if something happens, then they'll take care of him. Teddy decides to work the system and offers to marry Henry since she has great medical insurance. He initially declines, but it looks like they'll be getting hitched.

Bailey is holding a competition that will reward one resident with the opportunity to do a surgery where they remove a gallbladder through the patient's mouth. Jackson is able to get his patient up and walking quickly. Lexie is doing the standard procedure with a checklist to keep her on track, but April's cocky route quickly fails.

Lexie asks Nurse Eli (Daniel Sunjata) to help with her patient, but he retorts that would put the patient in more harm. Lexie turns to Mark, who acts as though he's helping her in exchange for drinks, but he really just offers Eli hockey tickets to play along.

Bailey then yells at Eli for taking out the shunt early, but his mistake proves to be just the thing to reduce complication rates. She later thanks him, and he asks her out for drinks. She begrudgingly accepts, and leaves with a smirk on her face.

Cristina shows up early at Derek's house to go on a fishing trip, which he hopes will clear Cristina's mind. Instead of putting her focus back at the hospital, Cristina has read up all about boats and fishing techniques, so she'll be prepared for the trip.

Derek is a quiet fisherman, and tries to keep Cristina quiet, but she gets frustrated with how slow fishing is. She wants to move the boat thinking the fish are elsewhere, but he refuses to do things her way. She gloomily says she can't slow down and shut off her mind.

Cristina finally gets a bite, which is thrilling for her. She cries tears of joy at her accomplishment, which is a huge turning point for her. She returns to Seattle a little more whole.

Though Callie and Mark have been sleeping together, she says it makes her sad because she then remembers Arizona. He admits that when they have sex, he thinks about Lexie, which doesn't set well with her.

Alex and Callie take on the case of a guy who needs a new hip. The patient is hesitant because Callie has been on leave recently. She lets them get a second opinion, expecting that they'll call back, which they do. During the surgery, Callie considers taking Alex on as her resident, and teaching him the ortho ways.

Callie offers to take Alex out for drinks, but he decides to stay and help Dr. Stark. She gets angry. In contrast, when Lexie shows up to have drinks with Mark, he immediately kisses her and she's immediately drawn to him.

The episode closes on a surprise visitor. Arizona shows up on Callie's doorstep. She missed Callie so much that all she did was cry. However, Callie just slams the door in her face.

Are you happy Arizona is back, even though Callie shut her out? How do you feel about Teddy getting married?
