April 30, 2006: Blues for Sister Someone Season 2, Episode 23

Seems like forever since we saw a new Grey's. Well, four weeks is a long time, but wasn't it worth the wait? I've got to say right away that I'm digging Chris O'Donnell as Finn the vet - he's a welcome addition and a great way for Meredith to get her mind off McDreamy. As a child of '70s game shows, I was eating up the Let's Make a Deal references Finn was making, asking Meredith to choose "Door No. 1" (going upstairs and taking a shower after they birthed the horse - "I want to birth a horse!") or "Door No. 2" (going home). Glad she chose Door No. 1, which, of course, made Derek jealous as all hell when he showed up with Doc the dog - how about Derek's face when Meredith walked down the stairs all showered and fresh? And how nice for Meredith to be the reason Derek gave Addison some good sex for a change. Meredith was adorable with Finn when she told him she couldn't have sex, but I was expecting her to say to him: "Umm... let's horse around." Loved the scene on the elevator earlier between Derek and the giggly Meredith when she referred to herself as "the dirty ex-mistress" but Derek corrected her with "you're not the dirty ex-mistress - you're a friend." Just when you think "Oh no - not another elevator conversation between those two," the writers don't let you down. One of the things this show does that just kicks ass is when they have one of those moments where there's multiple dramatic things happening to different characters at the very same time and they keep cutting between the scenes. Tonight's example was 37 minutes into it when these four things simultaneously occurred: - Denny had trouble breathing and they struggled to revive him. - Burke's musician hero Eugene ( Albert Hall) dies during surgery. - Mrs. Graber ( Jayne Brook - recently seen on Boston Legal) finally had her seizure after Izzie and George argued. - Alex got questioned by the husband whose wife just had "complications" after delivering their seventh child. Awesome moment! But how sad that the woman (played by Jean Louisa Kelly from Yes, Dear) couldn't tell her husband she asked Addison to tie her tubes after her C-section. Would he really want her to have an eighth child? Yikes. I felt bad for Burke, but like Cristina said, he did the best he could. And you knew Bailey was going to walk in when Izzie and Denny were hugging. By the way, Bailey reminded me of Dr. Cox on Scrubs when she told Meredith: "Grey, do you actually believe I care?" Too funny. I am enjoying the tension between Addison and Alex, but I found it hard to believe he told the husband the truth behind the "complications." Glad Mrs. Graber told George that Izzie "misses her friend," causing him to finally show up at their house, and with Callie. Oh, and Callie, thanks for cutting George's hair. show less
