Solti Conducts Schubert (Symphonies No. 6 and No. 8)
Solti leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in two Schubert symphonies. The Sixth, called the "Little C Major," is an airy, chamber-like work in which the wind section figures prominently. The Eighth, or "Unfinished," is a hauntingly poetic masterpiece that comprises only two movements, both marked by a disquieting mood of melancholy.
