The School for Scandal
"The School for Scandal," Richard Brinsley Sheridan's 1777 comedy, satirizes the extravagant and corrupt aspects of London society. Two plots are interwoven. The first centers on the rivalry of two brothers for the hand of a woman and the favor of a rich uncle. The other is about the relationship between an old gentleman and his young, flirtatious wife.
