Gossip Girl Episode Recap: "The Wrong Goodbye" Season 4, Episode 22

In the season four finale, the Gossip gang tries to track down Charlie and Blair has to say goodbye to someone.

Happily Never After
Russell is holding Blair captive in Chuck's new Brooklyn hotel. He is toying with a lighter, waiting until the perfect moment to set the place up in flames. Blair speed dials Chuck from the phone in her pocket and mentions her whereabouts. Chuck, along with Nate and Raina, gets to the hotel just in time to save Blair. Raina tells Nate she is moving back to Chicago and Chuck persuades Blair to have one drink with him before he returns her to Louis.

"One drink" turns into Blair and Chuck crashing a bar mitzvah, dancing the hora, and having an all-around good time together that ends with Blair pulling Chuck into a room to rip his clothes off. When they emerge, Blair tells Chuck she needs to go end things with Louis — that while she does love him, it doesn't compare to the passionate, intense, crazy love she and Chuck have.

When they get to Constance, they find that Louis has been there waiting for Blair all night long. Chuck realizes Louis' unwavering love is what Blair needs, and he interrupts Blair as she is about to break it off her engagement, telling them they have his blessing. Blair and Chuck say their goodbyes and tell each other they will always love one another.

Search Party
Meanwhile, the rest of the gang (including a newly married and therefore painfully bored Georgina) has been at Constance looking for Charlie. Vanessa gives up and goes to Dan's loft to continue the search, but gets distracted when she finds a book he's written. She calls Dan and tells him how amazing it is, he yells at her for snooping through his things, and she storms off with the book in hand.

Serena finds Charlie on a window ledge in Constance and talks her down. Charlie whines that all she wanted was to be like Serena. They calm her down and offer to take her home, but she insists on calling her mom first to let her know she's OK. Charlie makes a phone call, saying everything went according to plan. Georgina overhears, recognizes the crazy, and likes what she sees. She gives Charlie her number and tells her to give her a call if she finds herself back in Manhattan anytime soon.

When Charlie gets off the bus in Miami, her mother is there to greet her... except she calls her Ivy, hands her a bag of cash, and tells her she did a great job playing the part of Charlie — now Lily and the rest of the family won't ever find her daughter.

School's Out
The gang is preparing for another summer apart — Blair on the royal yacht in Monaco, Serena in Montecito with her grandmother, Dan at the family's Hamptons house, and Nate and Chuck - wherever their fingers land when the globe stops spinning.

Vanessa is en route to Spain, but first finds time to edit the byline on Dan's book to "anonymous" and drop it by a publishing house. They buy the book, and she tells them to send the checks to her internationally, and she will make sure "her client" receives them. A liar and a thief, Vanessa? Neither looks very becoming on you.

Immediately after Serena arrives in Cali, she is approached by acclaimed The Fighter director, David O. Russell, who offers her a job on the spot because she knows how to read. Bravo, Serena!

And last but definitely not least, as Dorota is cleaning Blair's room after she leaves for Monaco, she finds a (gasp!) positive pregnancy test in the trash can!

What did you think of the finale? Who is Blair's babydaddy? How will S fare at her big-time Hollywood job? Will Vanessa's betrayal end her friendship with Dan for good? Will Charlie/Ivy return to the Upper East Side? Until next fall... XOXO.
