Gossip Girl Episode Recap: "The Kids Stay in the Picture" Season 4, Episode 18

After what seemed like an endless six week hiatus, our favorite Upper East Siders are back — and with no shortage of drama. Blair's kiss with Dan forces her to see her future in a crystal ball, and long lost family members turn up to stir up some trouble for the van der Woodsen clan.

Epperly is back from her spontaneous trip to Bali and calls Blair to help with the photo shoot for a Taschen book on modern royalty. Chuck is behind the call, and Epperly tells him she hopes it works out for him because she has been a sucker for romance since she got back from her trip.

At the loft, Lily is awaiting her prison sentence and relishing her last days as a free woman. Her entire family is there supporting her, including her ex, William, much to Rufus' dismay. CeCe is also there because the Rhodes family has been invited to the Taschen photo shoot. CeCe has also invited Lily's estranged sister, Carol, to take part in the photo shoot. Carol has long shunned Lily's lifestyle and childrearing skills, and she has tried hard to keep her daughter away from the Upper East Side by raising her on a houseboat in Florida.

What Carol doesn't know is that her daughter, Charlie, has followed her to New York to meet the family she's heard so much about. Serena offers to give her a taste of her world: "We'll start at Barney's and work our way back to Intermix." While shopping, they run into Carol, who flips out and tells Charlie they are going home immediately.

Meanwhile, Chuck found out about Dan and Blair's "life-changing" kiss (Blair's words, not mine!), and lures Dan to the photo shoot to embarrass him in front of her. Blair explains to him that it meant nothing and that the reason she deemed it "life-changing" is because it made her realize she wanted to be with Chuck, despite not having reached her power-woman status yet. Seeing Chuck stoop to such a low to embarrass Dan, however, makes her change her mind.

Vanessa also finds out about the kiss at the photo shoot and leaves Serena a voicemail telling her everything.

After the photo shoot, Charlie has a sleepover with Serena and Blair and finds herself very comfortable in their world. She tells her mother the next morning that she will be staying for a while. Carol tells Charlie she's "not ready yet" and makes Lily promise to take good care of her since "she left college because..." She trails off before finishing the sentence. Hmm, maybe sweet Charlie isn't so innocent after all!

The episode closes with the prince that Blair met in Paris stepping out of his limo with Blair's shoe — how very Cinderella of him!

What did you think of this week's episode? Will Chuck's betrayal drive Blair back into Dan's arms, or will her Prince Charming sweep her off her feet? How will Serena react to The Kiss? What secrets is Charlie hiding?

Until next week... XOXO.
