Premise: `Well, gollllly!' The misadventures of a naive Marine recruit who marched to a different drummer. The sitcom was a spin-off from `The Andy Griffith Show,' where the bumpkinish Gomer worked as a gas-station attendant until enlisting in the peacetime service. His aw-shucks demeanor and general bumbling constantly put him at odds with dyspeptic Sgt. Carter, who, over the series' five-year tour of duty, gradually came to appreciate Gomer's down-home goodness.
