Glee Episode Recap: "Preggers" Season 1, Episode 4

"Preggers" finds Quinn Fabray, you guessed it, pregnant. The big question: Who's really the baby daddy? Rachel's dealing with troubles of her own when Will gives Tina the latest solo in the glee club, which may lead her to quit. Kurt joins the football team to cover up his spandex-wearing ways from his father, adding a lot of flavor to the team. Meanwhile, Terri hatches a scheme that just may get her a baby of her own.

Here we go...

The fourth episode of the series kicks off with a rousing rendition of "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)," which comes after a slightly infamous disaster at the VMAs. Beyonce, I'm going to let you finish, but Chris Colfer rocks his spandex and your song like nobody's business.

Kurt's dad, however, isn't too fond of his son getting down in the basement to the hit single. With the help of Brit and Tina, Kurt's able to convince his dad that he's in spandex because he's the new kicker on the football team. Tina also has to play his girlfriend to keep up Kurt's façade.

Over at Will's house, he and Terri are practicing Lamaze because she'll soon be "pushing a watermelon out of her boy howdy." When Will steps out of the room, Terri reveals to her sister that her baby bump is actually padding. Her sister keeps her from confessing the truth to Will, saying they're going to have to get her an actual baby.

The next day, Will, Emma and Ken become a threesome for lunch, to the detriment of Ken. The topic of discussion: Sue Sylvester has her own segment on the nightly news called Sue's Corner. Predictably, Sylvester promotes corporal punishment, because that's how "Sue sees it." Sue brags to the trio that she's busting out of her box.

At glee's rehearsal, Rachel has the opposite problem. Will takes away Rachel's solo, passing it on to Tina, who could use a boost in the confidence department. Rachel is not pleased and storms out, thus knocking down the first domino that will lead her astray from the club.

Kurt takes this distraction as an opportunity to ask Finn for a favor. "Thanks, but I already have a date to the prom," replies Finn. Actually, Kurt just needs Finn to get him an "audition" for the football team, which shouldn't be too hard since they're the worst team in the state. At tryouts, Kurt makes a faux pas by bringing Beyonce onto the football field. His fix of "Single Ladies," dance number included, does score him a field goal, ensuring him a spot on the team.

The news station becomes concerned with Sue's ability to win nationals after learning that some of the cheerios have defected to glee. Her job now depends on the cheerios taking nationals. Sue's first course of action is to team up with Sandy to lure Rachel Berry away from the glee club, making sure they fail in their attempts to make it to regionals. Using blackmail on the principal, Sue gets Sandy a job as the Arts Administrator, having control of the arts programs, including glee.

As part of their plan, Sandy sets auditions for a high school musical. Cue Rachel belting "Taking Chances," by Celine Dion. Lea Michelle is flawless while singing on this show. Bravo girl. Will tries to convince her not to leave glee, but Rachel's lack of popularity keeps her wanting more.

First huge reveal of the night? Quinn tells Finn she's pregnant and the baby is his. Now this would make sense if they had ever had sex, she just makes him believe sperm can travel in hot tubs. Poor kid doesn't know his teammate, Puck, deflowered his girlfriend, which is the second revelation in "Preggers." Puck later finds out from Finn that Quinn's expecting.

Tina finally gets to step out and show her strengths. Showcasing "Tonight" from West Side Story, she makes a pretty great Maria, but the happy moment turns sour when Tina realizes she needs to give up her solo to get Rachel to come back. As she exits, Finn comes crying to Will in a very father-son moment. He's knocked up his girlfriend and now he needs advice. Finn doesn't want to become a townie, stuck raising a kid, and working at the supermarket. He asks Will to help the football team loosen up so they'll start winning and he can get a football scholarship.

The third big reveal of the night comes after Will tells Terri that Quinn is pregnant. Light bulb! Terri just needs to convince Quinn to hand over her baby and Terri will be all sorted.

In the climax of the episode, the McKinley High football team finally wins a game after the team busts out the "Single Ladies" choreography on the field. Distraction is everything. Kurt's dad is there to witness the routine, and it later opens up a discussion between the pair that lets Kurt come out to his dad. Pops tells him that he's known since Kurt was three and he accepts it. The team's big win also brings three new members to glee.

The final reveal of the night, Rachel has quit glee club. Ruh-roh, what are they going to do now?

Lastly, did you catch that sweet embrace between Emma and Will at the football game? Come on already! What did you think of tonight's Glee? Sound off in the comments.
