Glee Episode Recap: "Silly Love Songs" Season 2, Episode 12

In the Valentine's Day episode of Glee, Finn sets up a kissing booth, Blaine sets out to reveal his crush and Santana decides to get revenge on the couples of New Directions.

The episode opens on Puck pining for Lauren during class, pondering how you can't choose love. We get a flashback to when Puck needed to find a 12th member for Sectionals. Turns out he bribed Lauren with seven minutes in heaven -- but he apparently couldn't deliver more than three. "You're really not good at this," she says after kissing him. He's now totally in love with her, but she doesn't return the feelings.

Meanwhile, Finn is back to being the big man on campus after winning the football game. Even Becky asks him to be her Valentine. However, Finn only has eyes for Quinn. His new challenge: Kiss Quinn so she can see they still have feelings for each other.

Kurt and Blaine, meanwhile, are looking at Valentine's Day gifts. While Kurt is a cynic for this Hallmark holiday, Blaine loves it and wants to find the perfect gift for a certain special someone. Kurt thinks it's him, especially after Blaine buys him coffee, but I'm guessing this storyline is not going in that direction.

Back at glee club, Will assigns the New Directions a new project: Partner up and sing a love song. Finn, cashing in on his new found celebrity status, has decided to open a kissing booth to raise money for the club. "I've kissed Finn, and can I just say, not worth a buck," Santana offers. The club turns on Santana, saying that she's always putting people down, but Rachel takes it too far by saying Santana will end up being a stripper.

Over at Dalton, Blaine calls an emergency meeting with the Warblers. He's in love and wants the group to help serenade his crush off-campus. They are reluctant because the Warblers haven't performed in a relaxed setting since the '80s.They agree to go perform at the Gap, where Blaine's crush works. Poor Kurt, he's not the one Blaine likes. Called it.

Kurt vents to Rachel and Mercedes at a sleepover, where Rachel plots to pay $100 at the kissing booth so she can kiss Finn over and over. They encourage Kurt to go to the "Gap Attack" and scope out the competition.

After a failed attempt at asking Lauren out for Valentine's Day, Puck tries to woo her by singing "Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen. Lauren seems to cave to his advances, as Santana looks on with anger and disappointment. Unfortunately, Lauren says the first love song anyone has ever sang to her happened made her feel like crap.

Over at the kissing booth, Quinn calls Finn out on his game, knowing he's only doing this so she'll kiss him. She says she won't do it because she doesn't want to hurt Sam, but even them talking has sent Sam into a flurry. He wonders why Quinn hasn't kissed Finn at the booth.

Rachel goes to the kissing booth, and Finn only kisses her on the cheek. She's pissed, and he figures out that she's still in love with him. He's still mad she cheated on him, but gives her a star necklace as a Valentine's Day gift. Despite the affection, he thinks she's right about them needing to be separate and alone for a while.

Mike and Artie, who have two of the coolest girlfriends in school, decide to sing Michael Jackson's "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" for their project. No drama, no arguments, just sweet, young love.

Later, Santana buys herself a Valentine's Day gift, saying that Puck can reimburse her later. She'll forget the Lauren-lapse and go with him to dinner. However, just as she's describing Lauren as a whale, guess who walks up? Lauren and Santana proceed to duke it out in the halls until Coach Bieste breaks it up.

To prove a point, Quinn goes to kiss Finn at the booth. Sam watches to see if there are still sparks between them, but it's much more: It's fireworks. He doesn't realize, but she does, and goes back to tell Finn to meet her the next day.

At the Gap, Blaine and the Warblers sing Robin Thicke's "When I Get You Alone," to his crush Jeremiah. Kurt looks on with jealousy, but it turns out, the Warblers' show gets Jeremiah fired from the Gap. He makes it clear that they're not dating and won't be since Blaine is underage and Jeremiah isn't out the closet.

Surrounded by all the couples in glee club, Santana realizes that she's all alone on Valentine's Day and that's just not acceptable. As soon as she notices the smirks on Quinn and Finn's faces, she knows they've been fooling around and decides to get revenge.

Posing as a candy striper, Santana goes into the nurses's office to help a kid with mono. In reality, she purposely gets mono from him and then goes and kisses Finn, whom she knows will later kiss Quinn.

Since Lauren still hasn't budged, Puck decides to get down on one knee and propose a date with a ring pop. Oh, I miss those yummy little lollipops. She finally agrees, but ends up standing him up. She admits the next day that she does like him, but wants to take things slow.

Finn and Quinn meet at the auditorium, but she's hesitant to hook up with him because it would make her a cheater again. She's unsure if she loves Sam, but wants to enjoy both Sam and Finn until she figures it out—and she does, with a mono germ-filled kiss.

Now the tables have turned and Blaine hates Valentine's Day. He's so upset with himself for creating this whole relationship with Jeremiah in his head. Kurt comes out with his feelings for Blaine, who says he's not good at romance and doesn't want to screw things up.

When Tina goes to sing her love song ("My Funny Valentine" from Babes in Arms), both Quinn and Finn are feeling very ill. Tina isn't doing so well either, as she begins to cry while singing. Santana then outs Finn and Quinn for both being sick with the kissing cold. In the nurses office, Quinn insists they can't be anything until they both figure out what's going on with their respective flames, Rachel and Sam.

After Quinn gets picked up from school, Rachel takes care of Finn at the nurse's office. He says that kissing Quinn was like fireworks, but he never felt that way with Rachel. She's ready to be on her own and shows that by singing Katy Perry's "Firework."

She ends her Valentine's Day at Breadsticks with some of the glee clubbers. Kurt is holding a "Lonely Hearts Club" dinner there and the Warblers close out the episode with "Silly Love Songs" by Wings.

Should Finn and Rachel get back together? Or is it time for Quinn and Finn to take another turn? Hit the comments with your thoughts on the episode, including your favorite performance. (Mine was "Firework.") Until next time, enjoy your Valentine's Day!
