The Business, premiering Friday, Aug. 4, at 11:30 pm/ET, picked up where IFC's The Festival left off, as writer-director Rufus Marquez (Nicholas Wright) struggles to get his low-budget thriller made by wannabe-legit smut-peddler Vic Morgenstein (Rob DeLeeuw). Premise: This legal-eagle drama, which flopped, tried to show what it's like to be a young female associate in a male corporate world, according to series creator David E. Kelley. The stories centered on three young lawyers trying to make their mark at a prestigious, male-dominated San Francisco law firm. They didn't get much of a chance; viewers immediately rejected the `Practice'-`Ally McBeal' hybrid, and it was canceled after just two episodes.
