Melinda:
Do you want me
to kick down the door?
Professor Rick Payne: Yes
!!!
Forever a classic
Mrs. Gordon-
Professor Payne moment.
I'm starting to get the feeling that the relationship between Melinda and the quirky teach may be forming a bizarre Gordon-Payne love triangle. Melinda often seems irritated with the professor, but nobody - not even Melinda, I believe - can deny the tangible chemistry between them. It even seemed as though, when she confessed to
Jim that she'd told Payne about her gift, Jim's "wow" had a tinge of green to it - and it didn't come from the Amazon jungle. Or am I reading into things just a little too much? I did find it odd that she would tell Rick before
Delia.... Then again, the fact that he had a connection to this ghost did make it inevitable. Is this a new plot device to get somebody in there to shake things up a bit in the Gordon marriage? I guess that time and further hauntings requiring the knowledge and advice of a prolific, cynical and adorable male professor will tell.
Now then, about "the girls" that, sadly, I must mention received reader "jeers" in TV Guide Magazine a couple of issues ago. Were we into the episode about five minutes before I started singing, "Oh, Holy Cleavage?" I couldn't help but giggle a bit at
"I'm really hot all of a sudden, I need to go change." Well honey, if you need to change out of
that
little itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny red number to cool off... um... how low can you go, really? I also noticed another suspiciously maternity-looking wardrobe selection in this episode. That awful white... dress? With the weird black tie? Yeah. Strange how they'll show the rack with no qualms, yet dress the rest of her like Sack O'Potatoes.
I don't think I'm worried anymore about Jim getting killed off, but the impression that The Gordons may soon be going through some growing "Paynes" just wouldn't leave me. You have to admit, Prof. Payne sure did give Mel the serious moony-eyes as he drove off at the end. Honestly, I think it would be quite delicious. I really love Jay Mohr in this role, and I definitely enjoy his chemistry with J. Love Hewitt. As long as they keep Jim in the picture, I wouldn't mind seeing Melinda confronting some chemistry issues with Professor Rick. I have a feeling it would actually make Jim and Melinda's relationship even stronger. Okay, maybe I just want to see a little bit of heat on
Ghost Whisperer, and not the kind that attracts mosquitoes.
Are you all up for a little something like that for February sweeps, maybe? Or would you rather they just leave it as a platonic, peer-based friendship? "Inquiring" bloggers want to know.
