Sci Fi Channel has a new name, but it sounds the same: Syfy.
The official rebranding of the nearly 17-year-old channel took place Tuesday with a new moniker, a new tagline ("Imagine Greater"), a new site and a new series to go with it, Warehouse 13.

It was lights, camera, action last night when the Top 7 shot through songs of the cinema, with film guru Quentin Tarantino guiding them along. All this was minus inspirational, sight-impaired Scott MacIntyre, who made a tender exit last week when he wasn't able to survive Survivor's "The Search Is Over." But this search isn't over. The seven lasting contestants — Kris Allen, Anoop Desai, Matt Giraud, Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert and Lil Rounds — fight for their very Idol lives in tonight's results show. Season 3 finalist Jennifer Hudson performs "If This Isn't Love," and Miley Cyrus sings "The Climb."

Sci Fi chose their upfront event to screen the much-anticipated finale of their hit series Battlestar Galactica, introduce new shows and formally reveal their new name, SyFy.
Here are some of the highlights of the evening:
Battlestar Galactica
The evening began with the screening of the two-hour Galactica finale, "Daybreak — Part 2." Executive producer Ron Moore made reporters and critics raise their right hands and promise not to reveal any spoilers until it airs on Friday (10 pm/ET). We will abide by this promise, but say the show's bow is stunning, action-packed and quite emotional.
Ghost Hunters
Jason and Grant were good enough to name their "can't miss" episodes for TVGuide.com this season. They feature the creepy, old, abandoned Essex County Hospital and a Titanic exhibit with some reported spooky activity at the Georgia Aquarium. To raise the stakes — and the hairs on the back of your neck — the network is airing the Titanic episode on the anniversary of the ship's demise, April 15. We also couldn't resist asking if the boys minded being spoofed last year by Supernatural, and if they would be up for a cameo on the show. "We don't take ourselves seriously," said Grant. Solid? Dependable? A "rock"? Doesn't sound much like Christine, but that is exactly what a fellow scatterbrained mom (the always hilarious Kristen Johnston) considers her to be. At first, Christine takes to the compliment and the new friendship, but she soon tires of being the responsible one. It was only a matter of time.

SCI Fl will expand its Ghost Hunters franchise as well as the Channel's partnership with Craig Piligian's Pilgrim Films and Television, the network announced Thursday.
