Melanie breaks up with Derwin after learning that he cheated on her. Derwin apologizes, but Melanie isn't interested. She wants to move out of their apartment. Also, Malik is constantly followed by plus-size women after it's revealed that he prefers them.
Trey offers Melanie financial help and a place to live. Meanwhile, Jason is worried he will get cut after the team is sold and a new coach (Lee Majors), who helmed Derwin's college team, is brought in.
Malik's girlfriend, Renee, is shocked to learn that Malik still lives with his mother, and Renee refuses to be intimate with him until he gets a place of his own. Meanwhile, Jason hosts a Bible study in an attempt to gain favor with his new coach.
Malik confronts a cartoonist for ridiculing him in a comic strip. Elsewhere, Kelly threatens to leave Jason for someone who will appreciate her; and Tasha meditates with a top football player in an effort to sign him to her agency. Lil' Kim guest stars.
Malik fires Tasha as his manager after her failed attempt to resolve an embarrassing situation he was involved in. Elsewhere, Jason worries his career may be over when he is selected for a random drug test for steroids; and a rival sports manager offers to buy Tasha's agency.
Melanie is shocked when Derwin brings a new girlfriend to the diner where she is working. Later, Melanie discovers some surprising information about the woman and shares it with Derwin, but he doesn't believe her.
Melanie stays in San Diego to spend the holidays with Dionne after learning that she's all alone, but when Dionne resurrects an ad deal with Derwin, she abandons Melanie to go to St. Barts with him and some ad execs.
Tasha goes out drinking with her new coworkers and is insulted when one of the managers flashes her; and Kelly and Jason see a marriage counselor, but the therapist is a huge fan of Jason's, who uses his charm to make the therapist see things his way.
Melanie pulls back when her relationship with Jerome starts to heat up, but she changes her mind when she discovers that Derwin's new girlfriend has moved in with him. Elsewhere, Jason learns he is going to be benched for the next game due to his recent poor performance on the field.
Malik goes out with Robin Givens and enjoys her freewheeling approach to life. Meanwhile, Jason sees a therapist when post-championship blues set in. The NFL's Marion Barber and Roy Williams appear as themselves.
Melanie plans a romantic weekend with Jerome, but their intimate time is interrupted when Derwin and the Sabers party at the same hotel. Meanwhile, Malik sulks over breaking up with Robin Givens; Jason fires his manager; and the professional relationship between Tasha and Rick gets personal.
The second season ends with Derwin and Jerome getting into a fight over Melanie. Elsewhere, Malik tells Robin Givens he loves her and wants the two of them to commit to a relationship; and the team's new owner shows more interest in Kelly than in re-signing Jason.
