Julianna Margulies, Snakes on a Plane

By now, we all know how the esteemed Samuel L. Jackson ultimately came face-to-face with those sinister (and box-office, title-worthy) Snakes on a Plane. But what is ER alumna Julianna Margulies doing flying the same deadly skies, as a flight attendant who, thankfully, proves handy with a fire axe? Again, it all ties back to her esteemed costar. Help! Many years ago there ...

James Garner, Maverick

Question: Help! Many years ago there was a TV program called Maverick, which was about two brothers, Bret and Bart. One was played by James Garner and the other by...? It's driving us nuts. Please try to help. I can see his face, but not his name. Thanks.Answer: Don't get too down about it, Irwin. The late Jack Kelly, often called "the other Maverick" while the series was on the air, seemed destined to play second banana to one star or another throughout his entertainment career. But to his credit, he had as good an attitude about it as anyone in the business. Kelly started off his career at the age of 2 weeks, modeling for an Ivory Soap ad. But his early acting years were spent in the shadow of older sister Nancy, who won Tony for the play The Bad Seed and an Oscar nomination for the movie read more

Wingman Tim Daly Has Eyes For You

For Tim Daly, Eyes is the prize. The former Wings star seems perfectly suited to play Harlan Judd, the wiseacre boss in ABC's new high-tech private-eye drama (Wednesdays at 10 pm/ET). Though it debuted to lackluster ratings, its clever combination of cop show, workplace comedy and nighttime sudser makes it one of the most unique series in prime time. How do you describe it?Tim Daly: It's a fantastic combination of a procedural — how do private eyes gather information on people? — and a character drama. [That's] the thing that makes it interesting to me. These are real, vivid, well-drawn characters who are very human and flawed. That's what sets this apart. In a certain way, it's like read more

Premise: This remake of the classic series about a wrongly condemned man has its moments, but is superfluous when considered against the original. On the other hand, a 1993 theatrical update of the story with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones did get it right, and was a critical and commercial smash.
