“The Killer at Thurston High,” a vivid anatomy of four murders, profiles Kip Kinkel, the Oregon teenager who killed his parents in May 1998 after being expelled from his high school for gun possession. The next day, Kinkel returned to Thurston High and shot two students to death while wounding 24 others. The report traces Kinkel's childhood and examines his family life as it looks for reasons why, as correspondent Peter J. Boyer says, he “slipped away.” Interviewees include Kinkel's sister, Kristin.
