"Battle for Haiti" examines Haiti's rebuilding effort, which has become a struggle due to corruption and the criminal activities of gangs, many of whose members escaped from Haiti's National Penitentiary following the devastating 2010 earthquake. The documentary accompanies police units that are hunting the escaped criminals in Port-au-Prince, and relays the fear that many Haitians live in, as the central government and judicial system seem unable to maintain order.
