Season 25, Episode 4 A Hidden Life

First Aired: November 14, 2006

“A Hidden Life” is an engrossing examination of an Internet sex scandal (and a newspaper's online sting operation) that led to the 2005 recall of Spokane mayor Jim West (1951-2006) after West visited a gay chat room on a city computer. Included: clips of West; comments by Spokesman-Review editor Steve Smith and reporters Bill Morlin and Karen Dorne Steele; and West's ex-wife Ginger Marshall. A federal probe failed to yield criminal charges against West.
