Free Ride So, um, everybody have...

Free Ride
So, um, everybody have a good weekend? Cool, cool. Yeah, did some stuff, bought a few things, went some places, watched a really stupid show. Damn, I was gonna try not mentioning that for a while. But come on, the best I got is that Erin Cahill — as Amber — used to be a Pink Ranger. Everyone else on the show? Nothing. The whole comedy thing is ruined by unfunny people saying unfunny lines. Of course, who am I to decide what's funny? Well, I'm the guy not laughing. The guy who could actually quit his job precisely because this show was so unfunny. Not my first job, mind you, but this thing I'm doing right now. If the series — oops, I mean season — finale wasn't right around the corner, I'd be in trouble. I'm also the guy who would s  read full article

Free Ride Just when things couldn't...

Free RideJust when things couldn't get any worse for Nate, they got absolutely horrible, and then some. As if moving back home with wacky parents who are in therapy, having a crush on an engaged girl and friends who go to bed at 9:30 wasn't enough. Tonight Nate managed to get his dad in a coma and then flatline after feeding him too many painkillers. It all began when Dad needed a ride to the hospital for his routine colonoscopy and Nate got stuck with the chore since his mom said he had to become a responsible adult. Or, as he put it, doing the "butt-check rite of passage." Well the camera-up-the-rear-end test went smoothly, but while Nate was distracted with cell-phone video games, his father hit his head on the toilet and fell into a coma. Nate wasn't sure how read more

Free Ride Apparently this whole...

Free Ride Apparently this whole grown-kid-living-at-home-and-mooching-off-parents thing is not a new concept, seeing as how that movie Failure to Launch was number one at the box offices this weekend. Well, at least Nate is just fresh out of college while Matthew McConaughey's character is like 35 or something. So for the 19 people out there who were not watching The Sopranos or Desperate Housewives and actually tuned in to what Fox claims is the funniest new comedy on TV, I hope you enjoyed this show as much as I did. Watching Nate's dad go ballistic when he found out Nate's car "just stopped" because he read more

Free RideWell, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Fox gives this show a chance and doesn’t pull it from our viewing pleasure too soon. I couldn't think of a better name for this show if I had written it myself, since, I'll admit, I am an expert on the subject. "Free ride" is such a perfect title for that oh-so-wonderful period in one’s life when one moves back home with the parents after college graduation. Enter Nate Stahlings, who returned to Johnson City, Missouri (population 32,851) after a four-year beer-chugging fest, aka, earned a college degree in Santa Barbara. I loved his excuse for staying with his parents: "They take care of me, they do the dishes, they cook me food, it's like having servants." But unfortunately for Nate, his fantasy bubble was burst when read more
