Question: I'm one of the last people one would expect to watch Downton Abbey, but after hearing the endless raves about it, I made it through the first season on DVD during a weekend, and a new episode is now one of the highlights of my TV-watching week. However, my question is about the "mean girls" (i.e. Thomas and Miss O'Brien). Sure, it's always fun to have a couple of mustache-twirling villains to root against, but unless I missed something, I guess they're supposed to be bad just for the sake of being bad.

Man UP
Oh, ABC. How adorable that you felt that your sad new sitcom Man Up! (8:30/7:30c) deserves an exclamation point. As in, maybe: Yikes, this sucks! The network describes this latest "comedy" about male insecurities as being "in the vein of The Hangover." Only in the vein of people who watch The Hangover and think: Boy, I wish I could be that funny.

Question: I was wondering what you thought of the civil suit arc on The Closer this season. It's an interesting juxtaposition of morality on the one hand, and rooting for the characters on the other. It also shows all the different shades of grey in the law. If I heard about an incident in real life where police just dropped off someone in a neighborhood when they thought s/he would be killed, I'd be appalled. Yet I understand these characters' motives in this case, like all of them, and want to be on their side. The part of this arc I do love is Mark Pellegrino as Brenda's lawyer Gavin. I love the character and the nuances Pellegrino brings to playing him. Having only seen Pellegrino previously on Lost, and noting how different Gavin is from Jacob, I really appreciate what a fine actor he is. He deserves his own show. Unlike most of the other lawyer shows in recent years on TNT or USA, which I've skipped, I'd definitely watch a show centered around this ...

Question: I am still mulling over the finale of The Killing. As expected, there are a lot of people who hate it but I am not one of them. I think it is pretty clear that Richmond was the killer and Linden and Holder caught him. Holder faking the photo does not mean Richmond is innocent. It means that Holder took a shortcut because he was convinced that Richmond was guilty. I thoroughly enjoyed the show — it was like watching a novel unfold. I do like mystery novels a lot and I am particularly fond of character-driven mysteries, which is what we had here. What I am upset about is that I have to wait so long for ...

Flashpoint
The new season of Flashpoint puts family first — both on the job and in the characters' homes.
Check out photos of the Flashpoint cast
"The overview theme of the season is about family and how we're all connected," series star Enrico Colantoni tells TVGuide.com "When there are family situations that we deal with, we actually show how it affects us. The show certainly isn't about that, but you get a stronger sense of how my team reacts to the job and how they take it home, which is probably the most authentic thing about our show."
Colantoni plays Greg Parker, a crisis negotiator and the leader of the Strategic Response Unit. His dedication to his job led to the crumbling of his own family...

Charlie Sheen
CBS President Nina Tassler said she is definitely worried about Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen.
The personal life of Sheen, currently television's highest-paid actor, has long been a source of controversy, and in recent months he's appeared in the tabloid headlines almost non-stop. Police officers were called to Sheen's allegedly destroyed New York hotel room last October, he's filed for divorce with his wife Brooke Mueller, and last weekend he reportedly went on a bender with multiple escorts.
Poll: How long should CBS continue to stand behind Charlie Sheen?
"Well, I really didn't expect that question this morning. I'm really taken by surprise," Tassler deadpanned at the Television Critics Associaton winter previews Friday. But Tassler then turned sincere.
"I personally have thought a lot about this. And we have a high level of concern. How could we not?" she said...
