Premise: TV talk shows get the Norman Lear treatment in this memorable parody, which, like his satiric classic `Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,' is set in Fernwood, Ohio. The show-within-a-show is hosted by Barth Gimble, who's joined by a dim sidekick and a cheesy house band. Borderline offensive---but hilarious---`interview' segments have Gimble welcoming a parade of quirky Fernwoodians displaying unusual talents or discussing off-the-wall theories. The series' title later changed to `America 2-Night.'
