Premise: A year---1775---in the life of a spunky 10-year-old (Shailene Woodley) with a big heart and a love of horses. “Sometimes it's tiresome to be a girl,” sighs Felicity Merriman of Williamsburg, Va., who'd rather ride her mare Penny than take etiquette lessons. Revolution is in the air, and Felicity's father (John Schneider) is a patriot. But her beloved grandfather's a loyalist, and Felicity has room in her heart for everyone---even the mean man who abused Penny. Mother: Marcia Gay Harden.
