Question: I'm a fan and read your column every week. I've watched the pilots for Forever and Red Band Society, and have added them to my list of shows I'll be watching. I hope they do well. I was wondering if you have seen them, and if so, what did you think? I found Red Band Society to be a feel-good show. I can't help but wonder, though, if it shouldn't be on a younger TV station like MTV, and the fact that it isn't makes me worry about its chances, as it is geared toward a younger audience. Forever is very Sherlock Holmes, which is right up my alley, and I love it whenever Ioan Gruffudd is on my TV screen. Do you think making the pilots available early hurts a TV show? What are your thoughts? - Carmelita

Exclusive Extant Sneak Peek: Molly's Baby Bump Is Bigger Than Ever — Wait, What?!

Halle Berry

After trying unsuccessfully to dodge the ISEA on last week's Extant, Molly (Halle Berry) found herself being held against her will in an operating room as a red laser zeroed in on her pregnant belly in the episode's final moments.

So where in the world — or should we say universe — do things pick up? In this exclusive sneak peek at the first five minutes of Wednesday's new episode (10/9c, CBS), everything in Molly's world seems to be back to normal, that is until she looks down and sees... read more

Anything on The Blacklist— Michelle
While everyone has been focused on the mystery of Liz's father, Season 2 will also explore who Liz's mother was. "If the part about my dad wasn't true, what is the truth, if any, that I need to learn about my mom?" executive producer John Eisendrath says of Liz's mindset this year. In other news, there will be a small time jump when the show returns, but Berlin will still very much be in the picture as the main villain in the "first portion of the year," Eisendrath adds.

Will Molly's alien boyfriend Marcus pop up again on Extant— George
Yes, and the fact that whatever this entity is appeared to Molly as her dead first love is... read more

Ask Matt: Emmy Snubs, Sweden, 24, Dome and Extant, and More

Juliana Margulies, Tatiana Maslany

Question: Once again, this year's Emmy nominations are predictably boring. What was the bigger snub: No Good Wife nomination for Best Drama (especially with a weak Downton Abbey season in its place) or no nomination for Tatiana Maslany for her web of roles on Orphan Black? (I already know the answer: Both snubs were egregious.) — Erin

Review: Extant and New NBC Summer Comedies

Greg Poehler

In space, no one can see you conceive. That appears to be the weird but intriguing premise of CBS's high-profile summer fantasy drama Extant, a show put into play after last year's successful summer run of the network's increasingly absurd Under the Dome. While Wednesday's pilot episode (9/8c) of Extant (all that was available for review) lacks the sort of unforgettable "wow" moment provided by the severed cow in Dome's opener, the new series also seems less likely to lapse irrevocably into silly hysteria.

Extant: Sci-Fi Alien Conspiracy Meets Family Drama in CBS' Summer Series

Halle Berry

In the not-so-distant future, an astronaut returns from space to shockingly discover that she's pregnant — which wouldn't seem so weird if she hadn't been gone for 13 months on a solo mission. The question of what's inside of her and how it got there is the mystery at the center of CBS' new drama Extant.

Hailing from newcomer Mickey Fisher and Steven Spielberg's Amblin TV, the drama finds infertile astronaut Molly Woods (Halle Berry) beyond surprised and rightfully frightened upon the discovery that she's an incubator for... read more
