A five-part dramatization of the rise of the Roman emperor Augustus (Santiago Cabrera) following the assassination of his uncle Julius Caesar. At the would-be emperor's side: the fictional gladiator Tyrannus (Jonathan Cake). As Part 1 begins, the triumphant Julius Caesar (Colm Feore) annoints Octavius (Cabrera) as his heir. But Ides of March is approaching, and Octavius won't have Uncle Julius around to protect him for long. So he and Tyrannus will have to hightail it out of Rome.
