  • Perry Mason is the all time best show--ever!  Sugarfoot is my number two favorite.  I also like several of the other commenters' choices here, including Dobie Gillis...

  • I'm sorry, but "Hazel" ALWAYS bothered me. I only saw it in reruns, but it was sooo corny. Give me Lucy, any of her variations, any day!

Elvis and a President's Murder: What's the Connection?

What does Elvis Presley's 1956 appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show have in common with the 1901 assassination of William McKinley? And the onset of the Pequot War of 1637, for that matter? They are three of the 10 Days that Unexpectedly Changed America, as revisited in a History Channel series airing for five consecutive days starting Sunday at 9 pm/ET. (A detailed schedule appears at the bottom of this page.) To gain insight into this trip down memory lane, TVGuide.com spoke to acclaimed director Joe Berlinger (Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills), a coexecutive producer on the project who also helmed one of its installments.

Help! Many years ago there ...

Question: Help! Many years ago there was a TV program called Maverick, which was about two brothers, Bret and Bart. One was played by James Garner and the other by...? It's driving us nuts. Please try to help. I can see his face, but not his name. Thanks.Answer: Don't get too down about it, Irwin. But his early acting years were spent in the shadow of older sister Nancy, who won Tony for the play The Bad Seed and an Oscar nomination for the movie read more

Premise: The legendary really big `shew' was a Sunday-night variety staple for more than two decades, a something-for-everyone potpourri of musicians, comics, actors, singers, dancers, newsmakers (taking bows from the audience) and a range of specialty acts. Called `Toast of the Town' until 1955, the series featured an impressive roster of talent introduced by a host whose stiffness and utter lack of stage presence made him peculiarly likable (and a popular subject for impressionists).
